About Me

It took a literal decade, but better late than never I guess.

I’ve wanted to write about movies since I learned that film criticism was a legitimate occupation, and while that is still the dream, I’m keeping my expectations for this blog much more grounded. I’m going to continue working on my only successful long-term creative project—my movie journals—but with the addition of actually publishing the reviews I write.

Well, yes, I suppose I can see how, after over a year and a half of writing, finally publishing my amateur essays that cover a topic I’m personally deeply devoted to but have no professional capacity in could be terrifying—I suppose that’s totally accurate, I wouldn’t know, I definitely haven’t lost sleep worrying about it. “Imposter syndrome”? Never heard of it.

Most of you that are here are probably relieved that this blog exists because maybe it means I won’t blather on about movies every hour of every day (THINK AGAIN)—I mean, you’re here because you personally know me. If that’s the case, then you’ve no doubt enthusiastically encouraged me multiple times to create this blog, even as I dragged my feet, complained, and then probably changed the conversation back to The Snowman or some garbage. What I’m trying to say is: thank you. I’m so much happier because of all of you.

(Is this all very pretentious? For Christ’s sake, it’s just an “about me” section, not my Pulitzer Prize acceptance speech. I’ve been staring at text boxes and frowning at simple instructional videos for three hours, I think I’m losing the plot a bit.)

Anyway. Thank you. I’m excited.
